Winterfarm is now closed for the season. Our farm always has a finite supply of trees, so in order to have plenty of 9ft trees in 2019 we have closed our fields.
ThankYou, Thank You, Thank You, to all of our customers... so many familiar faces, and so many new new ones! Along with your patronage, we also appreciate your kindness, your patience, and your joy for Christmas.
Winterfarm is a Choose-and-Cut Christmas Tree farm located near Jarrettsville, Maryland. Our farm consists of over 54 acres of gently rolling topography along St. Clair Bridge Road, and has been owned by family for over 120 years. We are part of the Harford County Agricultural Land Preservation Program.
Proprietor Gary Thomas was born the same year his father, Jim Thomas, began growing Christmas trees to sell on Goat Road near Aberdeen. As Gary’s father gained evergreen farming knowledge and honed his craft, Gary’s uncle Lee Thomas, also growing Christmas trees in Aberdeen, nurtured in his nephew a love of growing all things. After a lifetime of learning from both, Gary is considered among peers to be an authority on growing Christmas trees. He specializes in Fraser fir, Winterfarm’s largest crop.
Our farm has won numerous awards for Fraser Firs during the twenty-plus years since the variety was added as a crop. Last year we won first prize at the Maryland State Fair, Harford County Fair and Reserve Grand Champion at the Mason Dixon Fair, all for our Fraser Firs. This year we won the Grand Champion prize at the Harford County Fair. We believe we have some of the prettiest Fraser Firs. This year County Living Magazine honored our farm with being listed as one of the 20 Best Christmas Tree Farms in America. https://www.countryliving.com/life/g24108155/christmas-tree-farms-near-me/
Gary is the current president of the Maryland Christmas Tree Association and past president of the Pennsylvania Christmas Tree Growers Association, where he has remained a board member since 2011.
